This marriage later ended in divorce.

The family moved to Wichita in the mid 1960s, where Carl’s career began at Coleman, where he worked for many years, with a short term move to Reno, NV in the late 70s to early 80s, then returning to Wichita and resumed working at Coleman, retiring in 2004.

His love for his dogs was unmatched, and he had a special gift with children, earning the affectionate title of 'baby whisperer.' After retiring from Coleman, Carl remained a vibrant presence in his community. He was an active and helpful neighbor, always ready to assist anyone who needed it. His honesty was legendary, and his cheerful, happy-go-lucky personality made him a beloved figure to all who knew him. Carl was famous for his homemade wine, which became a cherished tradition among friends and family.
