Junior High Tornadoes Split With Cherryvale

The Junior High Lady Tornadoes were down by 7 following the opening quarter of the A game.

Junior High Tornado Basketball traveled to Cherryvale Thursday, Jan. 9, with both schools walking away with wins.

In the Boys A-team matchup, the Tornadoes sat with the lowest deficit they would have of the game, 6-8. Cherryvale knocked down 12 points to take their advantage to 12 before ending the half, 8-20. Eureka fell 15-38. Scoring for the Tornadoes were: Brody Mitchell 6, Eli Mason 4, Will Morris 3 and Cash Escareno with 2 points.

B-Team Boys claimed the lead early in the game, sitting with a 4-point lead going into the second period. Eureka pulled further ahead before concluding the half, 12-4. Despite the Chargers putting 8 points on the board versus Eureka’s 5, the Tornadoes maintained their lead going into the final quarter. Eureka pulled out the win, concluding the game 28-23.

Scoring for the Tornadoes were: Morris 11, Dylan Conard and Escareno with 6 each, Christian Sanchez with 3 and JaKolby Robbins with 2 points.

The Tornado Boys C-team fell in a low scoring game, Cherryvale claiming the win, 8-16. Scoring for the Tornadoes were: Conard and Ryan Miles with 4 points each.

The Junior High Lady Tornadoes were down by 7 following the opening quarter of the A game.

Outscoring the Chargers in the second period, helped Eureka reduce their deficit, 18-21.

Both teams put 9 points on the board in the third quarter, with the Tornadoes trailing 27-30.

Eight points from eighth grader Sydney Lindamood and 6 from classmate Arabella Shepherd helped the Tornadoes claim a 4541 win over the Chargers. Scoring for Eureka were: Shepherd 14, Lindamood 12, Lylly Stapleford 8, Karsyn Osborne 5, Jersey Cox 4 and Annabell Bogle with 2 points.

B-Team girls trailed by 4 going into the second quarter. Both teams added twopoints to the board before going to the half, Eureka down 5-9.

Cherryvale found the board to tally 11 additional points to their score, the Tornadoes falling 10-20 at the conclusion of the 4th quarter. Scoring for Eureka were: Amorette Guillaume and Bogle with 3 points each and Stapleford and Sofia Escareno each with 2 points.

Eureka is slated to host Cherryvale on Wednesday, Jan. 17, with games beginning at 3:30 p.m. The JH Tornadoes will then travel to Caney on Thursday, Jan. 18, at 6 p.m. before hosting Neodesha on Monday, Jan. 22.
