The West Elk Patriot wrestling team traveled to Wellsville on Thursday, Jan. 11, where three Patriots claimed hardware at the annual Aaron Patton Memorial. Senior Kayla Wright placed second. Senior Evan Coble and junior Creyo Koop placed first.
Following are the results for Patriot wrestlers: 132: Evan Coble (212) placed 1st. He won by fall over Xavier Randall (Gardner Edgerton) 7-6 (Fall 0:35); won by fall over Eli Herr (Anderson County) 7-11 (Fall 0:18); and won by fall over Jeremy Willard (Jayhawk Linn) 8-6 (Fall 0:33).
157: Nolan Denton (913) lost by fall to Ethan Gray (Prairie View) 3-3 (Fall 1:40); and lost by fall to Gavin Peine (Central Heights) 5-9 (Fall 2:50).
165: Creyo Koop (23-0) placed 1st. He won by fall over Isaiah Groves (Olathe North) 2-7 (Fall 0:24); won by fall over Josh Foster (West Franklin ) 6-9 (Fall 0:44); and won by fall over Bryce Thompson (Louisburg) 13-7 (Fall 0:48).
175: Josh Patteson (1012) lost by fall to Chris Mc-Clendon (Wellsville) 4-0 (Fall 5:13); received a bye; won by fall over Mark Morales (Gardner Edgerton) 1-4 (Fall 2:06); and lost a 5-10 decision to Bowen McIntosh (Burlington) 158.
