The Eureka High School boys opened the 2024 portion of their basketball season Friday night with a 2660 loss to the Burlington Wildcats.

The Tornadoes opened the game playing well, staying with the Wildcats and forcing them to run their offense by limiting transition points. They continued to play well in the second quarter but were badly beaten on the boards and went cold shooting the ball.

They opened the second half playing stout defense and getting good shots, staying even with the Wildcats before everything fell apart in the fourth quarter. The Tornadoes committed 23 turnovers, half of which they committed in the fourth quarter when they seemingly forgot how to deal with the Wildcat press. They were also out-rebounded by the bigger Wildcats 32-18 for the game.

Senior Lyle Perrier led the Tornadoes with 12 points. Junior Laken Valentine had 9, senior Jace Nixon added 4 and sophomore T.J. Mills hit a freethrow.
