Eureka Archery Club Held Annual Banquet

On Saturday, Jan. 6, the Eureka Archery Club (EAC) held their annual Awards Banquet at Phillips Cabin. It began with a scrumptious potlock dinner followed by the annual deer contest winners. Each year, club members can enter into three deer contests. The Team Contest is a randomly drawn team of three aiming to collectively acquire the most score-able antler inches. A doe may be shot from each member to add an additional 25 points toward the team contest.

On Saturday, Jan. 6, the Eureka Archery Club (EAC) held their annual Awards Banquet at Phillips Cabin. It began with a scrumptious potlock dinner followed by the annual deer contest winners. Each year, club members can enter into three deer contests. The Team Contest is a randomly drawn team of three aiming to collectively acquire the most score-able antler inches. A doe may be shot from each member to add an additional 25 points toward the team contest.

This year’s team winners were: Ty Rader (Piedmont), Isaac Boone (Eureka) and Brad Boulanger (Eureka) with a total of 498 2/8.” The winning team received a Wild Hog Hunt with lodging from Shiloh Ranch of Stonewall, Okla. in mid-October.

A “Big Buck” and “Big Doe” contest for cash prizes was also held. This year’s Big Buck winner was Mel Parks (Madison) with 180 2/8” and the Big Doe winner was Russell Schlotterbeck (Gridley) with 97.4 pounds.

The EAC is a local Greenwood county club to share 3-D Archery and the love for the great outdoors. EAC hosts monthly outdoor 3-D Shoots from March-September before a break in deer season. The club will be hosting its 1st Kansas ASA State Qualifier in March, a twoday event: the Flint Hills 3-D Shoot Out and third Annual Lloyd Leitzel Memorial Scramble in April.
