A special open house is planned for this Friday, Jan. 12, for the new elementary facility at West Elk USD 282. The event will coincide with the Patriots basketball game against Argonia. The FCA will be hosting a baked potato bar and silent action and the Little Patriots Cheer will perform during halftime of the boys game.
The new facility includes 17 new classrooms, an elementary library with a computer lab and access to outdoor learning space, teacher work room, conference room and a large multipurpose room.
Teachers were able to move most of their classrooms over to the new building before the winter break and welcomed students to the new facility when classes resumed last week.
The open house, planned for this Friday, will feature a tour through the facility. The tours will be offered throughout the evening, beginning at 4 p.m.
Additional tours will be available each Monday throughout January, from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. Those wishing to tour the facility on an upcoming Monday are asked to enter through the main entrance of the junior high/high school building.
All West Elk patrons attending the game this Friday, against Argonia, will be admitted to the basketball games for free.
