Members of the Eureka Wrestling Club (EWC) traveled to Valley Center on Dec. 30, 2023 for a Round-Robin Open/Novice tournament.
EWC’s Tucker Williams and Brandon Cornett both placed first. Maddox Ring placed second and Jad Day, Tate Scott, Cort Decker, Elena McCoy, Keon Jones, Adleigh Ray and Lakyn McCoy all finished third. Felix Neill placed fourth and Carter Ring finished sixth.
Following are the individual match wins for Eureka Wrestling Club participants:
6U Boys 49B: Jad Day placed 3rd. He won a 4-2 decision over Kohen Thomas (El Dorado Wrestling Club); and won a 4-2 decision over Hatcher Franklin (Iron Grapplers Wrestling Club).
6U Boys 52B: Maddox Ring placed 2nd. He won by forfeit over Joseph Wright (Team Haysville Wrestling Club); and won a 16-8 major decision over Jaxon Clayborn (Triumph) (Maj 16-8).
6U Boys 58C: Tucker Williams placed 1st. He won by forfeit over Rhett Robertson (Derby Wrestling Club); won by fall over Welker Patee (El Dorado Wrestling Club) (Fall 0:27); won by fall over Jackson Stanfield (Team Lightning Wrestling Club) (Fall 2:28); won by fall over Dextyn Williamson (Emporia Wrestling Club) (Fall 0:41); and won by fall over Tyson Kenney (Hillsboro Wrestling Club) (Fall 0:26).
8U Girls 80-85B: Elena McCoy placed 3rd.She won by fall over Remington Perez (Iron Grapplers Wrestling Club) (Fall 2:37).
8U Boys 67B: Carter Ring placed 6th.
10U Boys 76C: Keon Jones placed 3rd. He won by forfeit over an unattached opponent.
12U Girls 115: Adleigh Ray placed 3rd.
12U Girls 140-155: Lakyn McCoy placed 3rd. She won a 6-0 decision over Genesis Renyer (Iron Grapplers Wrestling Club); won an 11-0 major decision over Josslyn White (Emporia Wrestling Club).
12U Boys 72B: Brandon Cornett placed 1st. He won by fall over Luisito Guillen (Kingman County Wrestling Club) (Fall 0:46); and won by forfeit over Evan Elliott (Abilene Kids Wrestling Club).
12U Boys 110A: Tate Scott placed 3rd. He won by fall over Jay Veal (Salina Wrestling Club) (Fall 2:11); 12U Boys 110B: Felix Neill placed 4th. He won by fall over Maxton Susee (Hutchinson Kids Wrestling) (Fall 0:34).
14U Boys 205B: Cort Decker placed 3rd. He won by forfeit over Ah`Mari Jones (Mat Rat Wrestling Club).
