Five Eureka Tornado boy wrestlers traveled to Burlington last Saturday, Jan. 6, to compete in the 32nd annual Burlington Invitational.
Following are the results for Eureka participants:
106: Mason Hughes (814) placed 5th. He lost by fall to Trenton Grimm (Cherryvale HS) 10-6 (Fall 1:52); received a bye; won by fall over Davonte Vantrece (Osawatomie HS) 6-6; won by fall over Chris Murphy (Burlington HS) 9-8 (Fall 3:35); lost by fall to Trenton Grimm (Cherryvale HS) 10-6; and won by fall over Alec Houchin (Fredonia HS) 3-4 (Fall 1:21).
113: Paiton Gravatt (06) lost by fall to Baker Moore (Richmond-Central Heights HS) 12-5 (Fall 1:08); and lost a 0-4 decision to Preston Stafford (Silver Lake HS) 3-14.
120: Cruz Escareno (26) received a bye; lost by fall to Jayden Westgate (Baldwin HS) 17-1 (Fall 0:26); and lost a 2-19 tech fall to Mario Zacarias (Parsons HS) 4-7 (TF-1.5 3:39).
150: Kadin Deshane (4-7) lost by fall to Brennen Westervelt (Coffeyville- Field Kindley HS) 13-2 (Fall 0:21); received a bye; and lost by fall to Trent Harris (Silver Lake HS) 11-7 (Fall 0:53).
157: Dalton Pool (8-11) won by fall over Nolan Denton (Howard-West Elk HS) 9-11 (Fall 1:57); lost by fall to Tucker Vesey (Coffeyville-Field Kindley HS) 10-2 (Fall 3:31); and lost by fall to Kyzer Lehmann (Burlington HS) 6-11 (Fall 2:12).

Eureka was slated to compete against West Elk and Central Burden this Thursday, but due to a scheduling conflict, the duals have been canceled. The Tornadoes will travel to Leon on Jan. 16, for the Bluestem Jamboree, beginning at 3 p.m. Eureka will then host a junior varsity mixer on Jan. 19, at 4:30 p.m. and their annual home tournament on Jan. 20, beginning at 9 a.m.
