Last November, Eureka residents saw a new gateway erected over Main Street just north of River Street. The gateway was just a portion of the Strategic Economic Expansion and Development (SEED) grant awarded to the City of Eureka for directional signage project.
Seven directional signs, two small directional signs for Eureka Lake and three factual signs were included in the project.
The signage project started more than a decade ago when city officials started looking at new signage ideas. Due to funding options, the project didn’t move forward until the City of Eureka applied for and received the SEED grant.
SEED grants benefit Kansas communities under 5,000 in population through investments in economic revitalization. SEED grants are funded under the Technology- Enabled Fiduciary Financial Institutions Development and Expansion Act, which was enacted in 2021. The SEED grant program is administered by the Kansas Department of Commerce.
