The sight was a blessing to local ranchers and farmers as they had been hauling water to their livestock/crops since June of 2023. According to www.cocorahs.org, Eureka saw approximately 2.15 inches in rainfall from December 22-25. Despite the recent rains, Greenwood County shows below their normal rainfall levels per Kansas State University’s (KSU) Kansas Office of the State Climatologist. According to KSU, Greenwood County had accumulated 24.36 inches through November, which is 14 inches below their normal 38.64 yearly accumulation. Both Woodson and Butler counties also show a below average level, through November. Woodson County received 24.47 in 2023 (normal is 39.98) and Butler County received 24.44 in 2023 (normal is 37.09) (Courtesy photo)
