City Administrator Submitted Letter Of Resignation

On the afternoon of Friday, Sept. 22, 2023, Eureka City Administrator Lucas Herb-Mullin shared his letter of resignation, noting that his last official day would be Sunday, Nov. 26, 2023.

On the afternoon of Friday, Sept. 22, 2023, Eureka City Administrator Lucas Herb-Mullin shared his letter of resignation, noting that his last official day would be Sunday, Nov. 26, 2023.

“It is with a heavy heart that I provide you with formal notice of my resignation as City Administrator for the City of Eureka,” the letter read. “Thank you for the opportunity to serve my hometown and supporting the work of myself and amazing team. These roles are challenging, but I am proud of where the City is as an organization and know you will have success in finding a qualified candidate to continue the forward progress,” the letter continued. Herb-Mullin began a new chapter in late November with the Butler County Government leadership team as he took on the role of Community Development Director. He oversees the Planning and Zoning Division, Building Safety and Construction Enforcement Division, Environmental Health Division, Development and programs involving grants, training, micro- loans and business relations.

During his time as city administrator, Herb-Mullin focused on transparency and building a bridge for the city to the county and the state. Herb-Mullin worked to receive approximately $1.5 million dollars in grant funding through various projects.

He began serving as Eureka City Administrator on January 1, 2021. Although he resigned from the role as city administrator, Herb-Mullin plans to remain in Eureka and continue to serve in various roles, including serving as a trustee for the Greenwood County Hospital Board.

Herb-Mullin’s last day as Eureka City Administrator was Sunday, November 26.
