Earned Approximately $25,000 In Scholarships And Prizes

Eureka Junior/Senior High School (EJSHS) 2023 graduates Hunter Scott and Cooper Zimmers earned scholarships and hardware when they competed at the Missouri Welding Institute (MWI) High School Contest, in Nevada, Mo., on Jan. 26, 2023.

Eureka Junior/Senior High School (EJSHS) 2023 graduates Hunter Scott and Cooper Zimmers earned scholarships and hardware when they competed at the Missouri Welding Institute (MWI) High School Contest, in Nevada, Mo., on Jan. 26, 2023.

A total of 286 students, from across the United States competed at the event with H. Scott claiming first place honors and C. Zimmers placing sixth.

H. Scott received a Lincoln Ranger 225 welder, a trophy, a Victor Journeyman Torch set, a Tig torch and a full ride scholarship to MWI in the amount of $17,900. He is the son of Troy Scott, of rural Eureka.

C. Zimmers received a trophy and a $1,000 scholarship to MWI. He is the son of Jeff and Kristy Zimmers of Reece.

The Tig and cutting torch sets will be used at EJSHS for future students.
