Mayor Richard Clark called the December 4 meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. with council members Martin Hunter, Erica Cordell, Jerrad Pope and Gary Harrod present. Also present was Clerk Joanna Hunter. Council member Derek Cookson was absent.
Motion by Cordell, seconded by Harrod to approve meeting minutes of November 20, as presented. Carried 3-0, Pope abstained.
Motion by Harrod, seconded by M. Hunter to approve payment of City bills at $60,225.93 which included November payroll. Carried 4-0 Motion by Pope, seconded by Harrod to reschedule three regular 2024 council meetings that would normally fall on city holidays to the Tuesdays immediately following; Jan. 1 rescheduled to Jan. 2, 2024; Feb. 19 rescheduled to February 20, 2024; Sept. 2 rescheduled to Sept. 3. Carried 4-0 Motion by M. Hunter, seconded by Harrod to approve the City of Rozel withdraw KMGA membership. Carried 4-0. As KMGA director for Howard, the City Clerk will complete the vote procedure.
Other discussion included: Howard Housing letter regarding duplexes was tabled to a future meeting; toilets at the city lake will continue to be researched; search for a Public Officer will continue; additional warranty work on street project to be completed this week; and a brief KS legislature update regarding gas price spike.
Motion by Cordell, second Harrod to adjourn. Carried 4-0. The meeting adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
The council also met on Monday, Dec. 18. Their next scheduled meeting is Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall.
