Law enforcement officers in three counties worked together over the weekend to locate a Reno County couple.
According to the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office, the Reno County Sheriff’s Office contacted local dispatch sharing that an elderly couple was lost and possibly stuck in Greenwood County. Reno County shared that Ruth and Milton Blocker, 96 and 98, respectively, had contacted a family member and indicated that they were stuck in a field. The Blockers were unsure of where they were, but, Reno County was able to utilize the Blocker’s phone GPS to try and find a location of their whereabouts.
Initial ping locations indicated that they were in western Greenwood County.
Greenwood County dispatch took over the cellular location and dispatched deputies to the area. Several other pings were later received indicating that the couple was possibly in Butler County and information was passed from Greenwood to Butler County.
The Blockers were located in Greenwood County on Sunday, December 17, by a Greenwood County resident.
Medical services were dispatched and M. Blocker was transferred by Greenwood County EMS to Wesley Medical Center, in Wichita.
Assisting Agencies included Greenwood County Fire District #1, Eureka Fire Department, Butler County Sheriff’s Office, Butler County EMS, Leon Fire, Rosalia Fire, Cassoday Fire and Kansas Highway Patrol.
