Greenwood County Hospital Foundation Received 176,740 In Two Grants From The Patterson Family Foundation For Rural Hospital Telehealth And Rural Hospital Medical Equipment

$

EUREKA - Greenwood County Hospital (GWCH) Foundation, a foundation organized for the sole purpose of supporting Greenwood County Hospital, has received $176,740 in grant funding from the Patterson Family Foundation. Funding of $126,740 was received from a Rural Hospital Telehealth grant and $50,000 was received from a Rural Hospital Medical Equipment grant.

Greenwood County Hospital will use the Rural Hospital Telehealth grant to upgrade computer wiring in the facility to allow for the use of telehealth. Funds will be allocated to the information technology (IT) department to oversee the upgrades. The project will be headed by Jason Clark, Director of Information Systems, Greenwood County Hospital.

The Rural Hospital Medical Equipment grant will help purchase and install patient telemetry equipment for rooms on the South inpatient wing, with funds allocated to the inpatient nursing department. The project will be led by Becky Randall, Director of Nursing and Randy Harris, Facilities Director, Greenwood County Hospital.

“We are grateful for the funding from the Patterson Family Foundation. It will allow us to upgrade our computer infrastructure and purchase necessary equipment we would not have been able to purchase otherwise,” stated Sandra Dickerson, CEO, Greenwood County Hospital.

Effective telehealth services and programs in rural communities can improve patient care options and health outcomes, while also supporting the needs of providers and staff to balance workloads. Recognizing opportunities to improve patient access to high-quality care, the Patterson Family Foundation health care grants help expand rural hospitals’ capacity through telehealth or medical equipment.
