Members of the Eureka High School boys wrestling team traveled to Hoisington last Friday for the 2023 Corner Classic.
Tornadoes Mason Hughes and Kadin De-Shane both placed 7th and went 1-4 on the day. Eureka’s Dalton Pool went 2-3 on the day and finished 6th. Following are the results for Eureka participants:
106: Mason Hughes (512) placed 7th. He lost by fall to Jai-Sean George (Larned) 3-2 (Fall 1:01); lost by fall to Julian Orrantia (Liberal) 15-1 (Fall 3:01); lost by fall to Angelo Otero (Holcomb HS) 5-6 (Fall 1:39); lost by fall to Kalob Lamb (Hoisington) 4-8 (Fall 1:23); and received a bye.
150: Kadin Deshane (1-4) placed 7th. He lost a 0-15 tech fall to Cylis Saldana (Holcomb HS) 8-5 (TF-1.5 5:17); lost by fall to Drake Blochlinger (Concordia) 13-2 (Fall 0:54); lost by fall to Joel Alcala (Great Bend) 2-3 (Fall 1:59); lost a 4-11 decision to Gabe Martinez (Ellinwood) 6-7; and won by fall over Craig Collins (Holcomb HS) 0-7 (Fall 1:52).
157: Dalton Pool (7-9) placed 6th. He lost by fall to Bartolo Rodriquez (Liberal) 8-5 (Fall 3:47); won by fall over Tre Hamiel (Concordia) 9-6 (Fall 1:16); lost by fall to Preston Roat (Hoisington) 8-6 (Fall 1:15); won by fall over Mikel Wilder (Larned) 0-4 (Fall 1:03); and lost by fall to Rylan Wirtz (Ellinwood) 9-6 (Fall 1:02).
