The Eureka High School boys earned their first win of the season Friday night with a 46-32 victory over the Flinthills Mustangs in Eureka. This was the first home game of the year for the Tornadoes and they played their best game of the young season so far.

The Tornadoes opened the game with very cold shooting, hitting only four of 15 shots from the field in the first quarter. However, their defense was outstanding, allowing the Mustangs to hit only three shots themselves. The second quarter, which has been the weak point for the Tornadoes all season, continued to be so in this game. They shot an underwhelming two for ten in the quarter and were outscored by the Mustangs 6-7. As has been their habit, they came out much better in the second half, hitting on 55% of their shots from the field and putting the game out of reach.

The key difference in this game was that the Tornadoes had 31 rebounds to go with single digit turnovers. This prevented the Mustangs from scoring easy baskets in transition and meant that most Tornado possessions ended with at least a shot going up.

Senior Jace Nixon led the Tornadoes with 13 points, senior Lyle Perrier had 10, senior Cole Adkins 8, sophomore Cole Ptacek 6, junior Laken Valentine 3, and junior Tanner Biering, sophomore T.J. Mills and freshman Tyson Coon scored 2 each.
