Ray Blevins

Everett “Ray” Blevins of Eureka, beloved Dad and Papa, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Ascension Via Christi – St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, at the age of 83.

He was born March 10, 1940, in Eureka, the son of Everett Pern Blevins and Mildred (Cook) Blevins. He was primarily raised by his stepfather, Forestt W. Maloney. Ray attended schools in Eureka and as a teenager, started working in dirt construction, running a dozer for his dad, Forestt. He built his first pond at the age of 13.

On February 6, 1966, he married the love of his life, Sandra LaVonne Brown in El Dorado. They made their home in Eureka, and to this union a daughter was born. Ray purchased his dad’s business and began Blevins Construction. He later became a contract pumper for Jackson Brothers, a position he held until his retirement.

Ray was a member of the Christian & Congregational Church and as a Trustee.

He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Diane Blevins and her partner, Glenn Maltbie of Hamilton; two granddaughters: Allison Marie and husband, Donald Derryberry of Hamilton; and Kelsey Leigh Bratton and partner, Cord Tucker of Lenexa; three great-grandchildren: Weston Ray Derryberry, Dean Everett Derryberry, and Addison June LaVonne Derryberry; stepsister, Janie Sue Hayes of Rochester, Minnesota; and stepbrother, Jerry W. Maloney of Chillicothe, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett P. Blevins, Mildred & Forestt Maloney; and his wife, Sandra.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, December 22, 2023, at the Christian & Congregational Church in Eureka, with Pastor Jerry Clark officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Eureka.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Christian & Congregational Church.
