Last Friday, December 8, Miranda Colangelo, of Eureka, was recognized as “Community Member of the Month” for her efforts in bettering the community.

Colangelo was nominated multiple times for the honor. The letters noted her positive and enthusiastic attitude while willing to help others .

Colangelo served on the Eureka Main Street board and has been instrumental in helping Bike Across Kansas (BAK), when they travel through the Eureka area.

After receiving the honors, Colangelo shared the following note on her social media, “Feeling very loved today. Thank you to my community, my friends, and family. I was taught growing up to always help when you can and to do the right thing even if no one is looking. I hope, if anything, I can inspire our youth to do the same thing and to get active and remain active in the community. From volunteering at the health department as a teenager, as well as local elections, to being a part of various boards for the community. I am not perfect, but the beauty of volunteering is perfection is not needed.”
