Lady Tornado Wrestlers Battled At Coffeyville

Members of the Eureka Lady Tornado wrestling team traveled to Coffeyville on Friday, December 8, where they Lady Tornadoes collected five pins during the nine total matches. Freshman Maela Neill went 3-0, winning all by fall, to claim first place honors. Sophomore Harlie Owings went 2-1, placing second and senior Makyla Gore went 1-2 for the day and placed fourth.

Following are the individual match wins for Eureka participants:

Maela Neill placed 1st. She won by fall over Harper Benson (Labette) (Fall 1:07); won by fall over Jocelyn Anderson (Fort Scott) (Fall 0:33) and won by fall over Bailey Glaser (Girard) (Fall 0:16).

Girls 169-182:

Harlie Owings placed 2nd. She lost by fall to Brylie Schaub (Fort Scott) (Fall 1:18); won by medical forfeit over Olivia Saucedo (Cherryvale); and won by fall over KayLee Felton (Independence) (Fall 2:55).

Girls 187-194:

Makyla Gore placed 4th. She lost by fall to Onna Moreland (Caney) (Fall 2:36); lost by fall to Ali Simhiser (Fort Scott) (Fall 0:33); and won by fall over Kara Pope (Girard) (Fall 1:25).

Eureka will compete at the Hoisington Tournament on Friday, December 15, beginning at 3 p.m. This will be their final outing before the winter break. They will return to action on Friday, January 5, at 3 p.m., in Burlington.
