One Arrested On Multiple Charges After Short Chase East Of Eureka

A Goddard man was arrested last Friday, November 17, after he attempted to elude officers on US Highway 54, just east of Eureka.

A Goddard man was arrested last Friday, November 17, after he attempted to elude officers on US Highway 54, just east of Eureka.

According to the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office, a Greenwood County Deputy attempted to stop a pickup truck for speeding on Highway 54.

Instead of pulling over, the driver, Max Leis, accelerated and continued westbound towards the City of Eureka. Leis traveled at speeds up to 100 miles per hour.

It was shared that Leis nearly rear ended another vehicle, as traffic slowed prior to entering city limits. It was then that Leis pulled off to the side of the road. He admitted to law enforcement that he was under the influence of THC at the time. He was arrested for Driving Under the Influence-Drug, Flee and Elude and Reckless Driving.
