Poling Recognized As Community Member Of The Month

A Eureka woman was recognized last Thursday as the November Community Member of the Month for her efforts within the Eureka community.

A Eureka woman was recognized last Thursday as the November Community Member of the Month for her efforts within the Eureka community.

Kathy Poling was nominated for her volunteer efforts through the Eureka Senior Center, including delivering meals on wheels, hosting a Christan Jam event at Jefferson Street Baptist Church on the first Thursday of each month and volunteering at the Eureka Nursing Center. She pays regular visits to the Eureka Nursing Center, where she hosts sing-alongs with residents.

Poling is now eligible for “Community Member of the Year,” which will be voted on by community residents in December 2023 and January 2024.

Also appearing on the ballot for Community Member of the Year are Janice Brown, Janet Turner, Don Scott, Beth Inwood, Don Fanning, Kevin Hough and Marilyn Brink. One more will join them as the committee will present the monthly honor in December.

To nominate a “Community Member of the Month” simply send a letter with the your name, the person’s name you are nominating and why you are nominating them for the honor. (Those wishing to remain anonymous can do so; but, the committee asks that your name and contact information be included in case committee members need additional information.) Letters should be sent to The Eureka Herald, PO Box 590, Eureka, KS 67045 or emailed to Wunderlich at [email protected].
