Patriot Football Concluded Season At Lyndon

The West Elk Patriot Football team concluded their season with a 9-2 overall record last Friday, in Lyndon. West Elk fell in the sectional match-up, 12-58, in the third quarter.

The West Elk Patriot Football team concluded their season with a 9-2 overall record last Friday, in Lyndon. West Elk fell in the sectional match-up, 12-58, in the third quarter.

“Lyndon is a very good football team and has the opportunity to win a state championship,” stated head coach Chris Haag. “We are disappointed by our performance but that does not take away from our season and the success we had. We are extremely proud of our men and will continue to work hard to get better going into next season,” he concluded.

Lyndon tallied two unanswered touchdowns in the first quarter. West Elk’s Creyo Koop found the end-zone in the second quarter with a 2-yard run to cut the lead to 6-12. The twopoint conversion attempt was unsuccessful. The second and final touchdown for the Patriots was a 45-yard pass play from Trent Haag to Koop. The two-point conversion attempt was again unsuccessful. The Patriots concluded the half trailing 12- 50.

Lyndon scored in the third quarter with a 32-yard run. With the two-point conversion attempt being successful, the game was called in the third.

Lyndon (11-0) advances to sub-state action where they will face Topeka-Cair Paravel Latin School (9-2), this Friday, November 17. The winner will advance to state on Saturday, November 25, at 11 a.m., facing the winner of the Brookeville-Ell-Saline (10-1) vs. Leoti-Wichita County (11-0) game.
