The Susannah French Putney Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution held their monthly meeting at the Butler County Historical Society in El Dorado, at 12:15 p.m. in the afternoon of October 20.

A catered lunch and time to get to know each other was enjoyed by the members.

Following lunch and a brief meeting, the group met at Walter’s Flower Shop in downtown El Dorado for a presentation by owner Harold Harmon. The business began in 1916 as the Rose Bud Flower Shop in El Dorado. In 1925 it became Walter’s Flower Shop. In 1976 Mr. and Mrs. Harmon purchased the shop but kept the name the same. He spoke about the history of the business and ways times have changed the kinds of flowers and other products that the community desires. Not only were the fresh flowers beautiful, but the entire store was like peeking into the past. A wide variety of items are offered from kitchen items to décor. Christmas displays and new holiday items are being added every day.

For NSDAR National Day of Service, members donated healthy snacks which were donated to fire departments in Eureka and El Dorado. Pictured above are Debi Hurley and SunKoda Ledford of the Greenwood County Fire - Central Division.

The next meeting will be held in El Dorado at the Butler County Historical Society, at 1 p.m. on Friday, November 17. Guests are welcome.

Members in attendance: Teresa Bachman, Sue Ann Brown, Kay Catlin, Carla Cook, Sharon Decker, Patty Goedecke, Nancy Gordon, Jean Groendes, Laura Head (guest), Loria Howard, Deborah Keplar, Sharon McClure, Kathy Morrow, Susie Patterson, Martha Riedl, Lucille Robinson, Marsha Todd, Nita Whiteman and Ann Wimberly.
