Annie Wilson, named a Flint Hills Balladeer in 2013, will be performing this Saturday, November 4, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., in conjunction with the annual Cattlemen’s Day event.

Wilson is a member of the Tallgrass Express string band. She plays the guitar and is featured on all five of the band’s albums.

Since entering a songwriting competition at the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, held annually beginning in 2014, she has had eight first place wins and seven second place wins in the new songs contest.

Wilson’s column Songs of the Flint Hills is now included in The Eureka Herald. The column features her poems. Outside of the music industry, Wilson helps her husband on their ranch in Chase County. She is a former teacher and coordinator of the Flint Hills Map and Education program.

Her performance will be held at the Greenwood County Courthouse Gazebo. However, in the event of inclement weather, Wilson will perform at The Studio, located at 302 N. Main Street.
