Evelyn Joan Walford, a beloved member of the community and a loving mother, passed away on October 14, 2023. She was born on July 10, 1933, in Eureka, Kansas, to her proud parents, Clinton and Cathrine Barrier. Evelyn's life was marked by her unwavering dedication to family, her strong work ethic, and her generous spirit.

Evelyn Joan Walford, a beloved member of the community and a loving mother, passed away on October 14, 2023. She was born on July 10, 1933, in Eureka, Kansas, to her proud parents, Clinton and Cathrine Barrier. Evelyn's life was marked by her unwavering dedication to family, her strong work ethic, and her generous spirit.

Evelyn attended school in Eureka, where she received her education and graduated with a bright future ahead of her. She started her career in Andover working for Land Co. Her career took her to Emporia where she began working at K-Mart then took a job working for IBP Employee Insurance, a job that showcased her commitment to helping others secure their futures.

Later, she moved to Springfield, Mo., and moved back into the insurance field reigniting her long and rewarding career with American Family Insurance, continuing to assist people in protecting what mattered most to them. Her reputation for reliability and hard work followed her throughout her professional journey.

In her later years, Evelyn settled in El Dorado and began working at the Coutts Museum Of Art, where she contributed her expertise and dedication to preserving the area's history. Her commitment to her work was truly commendable, and she only retired when she felt that her mission was complete.

Evelyn was a faithful member of Park Avenue Baptist Church, where her strong faith and kind-hearted nature found a welcoming community. Her church community became an extended family for her, sharing in her joys and offering support during difficult times.

Evelyn had a zest for life and enjoyed camping in their pull-behind camper, exploring the great outdoors. She cherished family gatherings and camping trips, creating lasting memories with her loved ones. Her love for adventure was a testament to her lively spirit.

One could always count on Evelyn for a helping hand, as her generous and caring nature spurred her to assist anyone in need. She was known for her willingness to support and care for her family and friends, embodying the true essence of a loving mother and friend.

While she was known for her kindness, Evelyn also had a stubborn streak, and she insisted on doing things her way. Her determination and commitment to her principles were qualities that defined her, and they often brought humor and affection to those who knew her well.

Evelyn Joan Walford is survived by her devoted son, Jerald Walford, and her loving daughters, Kathy Seaman and Stephanie Perrault. She is also remembered by her brother, Glenn Barrier, and numerous cherished grandchildren who will carry on her legacy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clinton and Catherine Barrier, her beloved husband, Charles Joe Walford, her brothers Elwin Barrier and Carl Barrier, her sister Sharon Woods, and her daughter, Rhonda Kay Walford, and Terri Wilkey, and Adam Brandt.

Evelyn's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, but her memory will live on in the stories, experiences, and the countless lives she touched throughout her well-lived life. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, hard work, and love that will be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A graveside service was held on Friday, October 20, at 11 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery, in Eureka.
