This will be a brief column this week, as I hurry to type this and pack for an unexpected trip to the panhandle of Oklahoma. Wade’s brother Bill passed away on Saturday and his service is Tuesday morning in Keyes, Okla.

On that note, we offer our sympathy to all who lost loved ones this past week. May they all rest in peace.

Hello to all in area nursing and assisted living facilities. Hello also to all in area hospitals and rehab centers.

Don’t forget “Trunk or Treat” is Saturday on Main Street in Toronto at 5 p.m. A lot of other activities are taking place that afternoon also. If you have a neighbor or know someone that has trouble getting around, offer to take them up town for this event. Regardless of where you live, if your town is having an event like this, offer to take someone who can’t make it without help. This is fun for all ages! Come join the fun.

If you live in a town with a nursing home, assisted living or rehabilitation place, take your kids there. The elders in any community enjoy seeing the little kids in costume! Make their day!

We took a drive out around the lake Saturday afternoon to see how low the water is. It is getting really low, but I have seen it lower. I’ve got pictures from where I drove across the mud flats and into the lake area and drove right up to the swimming area. That was back in 1985.

I need to dig out my pictures I guess for comparison.

May you all have a good week and be extra careful when you go out trick or treating.
