Howard City Council

Mayor Richard Clark called the October 2 meeting of the Howard City Council to order at 7:30 p.m. with council members Martin Hunter, Erica Cordell, Jerrad Pope and Gary Harrod present. Council member Derek Cookson was absent. Also present were Brandi Lanning, Kelly Nault, Sarah Evans and Joanna Hunter.

Motion by M. Hunter, seconded by Harrod to approve meeting minutes of September 18 as presented. Carried 3-0, Cordell abstained.

Motion by Cordell, seconded by Pope to approve payment of city bills $49,550.97 as presented, which included September payroll. Carried 4-0 Motion by Harrod, seconded M. Hunter to approve participating in signature ads for West Elk football homecoming, basketball homecoming and graduation. Carried 4-0 Motion by Harrod, seconded by Pope to require property owner Cynthia Decker to attend the next meeting and have specific list of what will be accomplished if an extension on time for cleanup is allowed. Carried 4-0 Motion by Harrod, seconded by Pope to purchase a play structure from Summit Supply at $6,966.95 so it will be delivered before next spring. Carried 4-0 Other discussion included KMGA legal and pricing information; Contacting LKM about dog issues, procedures and fines; Billing procedures and unpaid bills; Checking more prices and options for maintenance on docks at lake; Larger trailer purchase tabled; Tennis court resurfacing bid tabled to check other options; Resident concerns about sidewalks and also city office door; Sewer lagoon fence and enzymes; Cracks and pitting in new street surfaces and engineer writing letter to address this issue.

Motion by Cordell, seconded by Harrod to adjourn. Carried 4-0. Meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.

The council also met on October 16.

The council meets the first and third Mondays of the month, with their next meeting scheduled for Monday, November 6, at 7:30 p.m., at city hall.
