For approximately five years, the City of Severy has been working towards a new water plant. In 2018, residents of Severy gathered for a town hall meeting where they opted to keep their water plant instead of going with PWS #23.

Since that meeting, the city has worked with engineers to create the best plan. Throughout the process, the City has also worked to remain in compliance with the state.

The process saw a delay a few years ago when the engineer the City of Severy had been working with passed away unexpectedly.

Last Wednesday, October 11, crews officially broke ground. The new water plant, which will incorporate the current plant, is expected to be complete by spring 2024.

The project was added to Ad Valorum taxes on a 20-year note. This project doesn’t include the water line project that was completed in 2016. That project is being covered through a monthly fee over 40-years.
