It’s been so dry the past few years that we don’t even get to enjoy a colorful fall. That coupled with sudden cold fronts just wiped out the changing of the colors of the leaves. Gone are the days of red, orange and yellow mixed in with the various shades of green.

I’ve never been back east in the fall to see the beautiful colors, but I have been to Colorado in the fall. The Aspens or “Quakies” as they are called by the locals are beautiful this time of year. Gorgeous shades of yellow mixed in with the verdant evergreens!

Hello to all in area nursing and a s sisted living facilities. Hello also to all in area hospitals and rehab centers.

Many in the area have been sick or have had surgery recently. We send them well wishes.

We offer our sympathy to all who lost loved ones this past week. May they all rest in peace.

The Toronto Booster Club is having a fund raiser for equipment for the old school yard. If you would like to donate, check out their Facebook page or call 620637-2985. Since the o l d school building was torn down, the ground has been leveled and grass is growing, but it’s a big empty lot.

Lots of room to do things. Many ideas are floating around, one of which is playground equipment. Elliot Hoag has raised money for her birthday, for equipment. Many of us have fond memories of playing at the school yard, now is your chance to allow for new memories to be made. Donate to the fun fund!

Answer: Former president Theodore Roosevelt. According to Maxwell House, President Roosevelt was visiting the Andrew Jackson estate, The Hermitage in 1907. During the visit he was served Maxwell House Coffee, and reportedly declared it was “good to the last drop.” The owners of Maxwell House Coffee heard the President’s compliment and adopted it as their corporate slogan.

I urge all women who read this to get your mammograms. Early detection is the key! Iask all men and children who read this to have all the women in your life get their mammos scheduled.

Have you noticed the fall/Halloween decorations that are up around town? Lots of creative people around town and just outside of town.

And speaking of Halloween, The Annual Trunk or Treat and costume contest is Saturday, October 28 on Main Street in Toronto at 5 p.m. Come early and decorate your car as well as yourself and join the fun.
