Eureka Woman Critically Injured In Two-Vehicle Accident
Car/Semi Collided Last Thursday Morning

A Eureka woman received critical injuries last Thursday, March 26, after her vehicle, a Kia K5, collided with a semi just west of M50 Road.

Greenwood County Sheriff’s Deputies, Eureka Fire and Rescue and Greenwood County EMS were dispatched to the accident at approximately 9:40 a.m.

According to the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office, investigation showed that Roseann Burns, 41 of Eureka, was driving the Kia westbound on US Highway 54 and crossed the center line, striking a semi in the east bound lane, driven by Marvin Lea, 58, of El Dorado.

Burns was transported by Greenwood County EMS to the Greenwood County Hospital, in critical condition. Burns was later transported to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita for further treatment in stable condition. Lea sustained minor injuries and was released by Greenwood County EMS at the scene.

Burns was traveling with her service dog, which was uninjured and is with relatives.

The highway was reduced to one-lane of traffic for approximately 3-4 hours.
