Toronto News

Well here we are in April. April! Three months of this year gone already, and the spring storm season has started. Saturday night was crazy with all the thunder and lightning and a little blind dog scared of storms. I was finally able to go to sleep around 2 a.m.

The worst part is the stormy season is just getting started. I don’t know if anyone got any damage from the storm. I didn’t see any when driving around Sunday. Of course many have limbs still after the strong winds earlier in the week.

It’s too bad we don’t have a place to take limbs anymore. Many places around town are getting big piles of brush in their yards. After the last fiasco when I tried burning brush, our brush pile has gotten really big.

What is “Gigil?” Hello to all in area nursing and assisted living facilities. Hello also to all in area hospitals and rehab centers.

We offer our sympathy to the families of Cathy Hunsperger, Michelle Wessling, Hurley Breech and Howard Tindle. We offer our sympathy to all others who lost loved ones this past week. May they all rest in peace.

Have you noticed the big changes taking place at Toronto Lumber Co.? I don’t know what all their plans are, but that block sure looks different. It’s awesome to see a business expanding like they are. Now, if there were only a way to get more businesses in town.

I know it’s tough running a business in town; been there done that, but it’s heartwarming to see a business grow and new ones open.

You can see progress being made on Cedar Creek Bridge on Highway 105. The bridge work on Homer Creek Bridge on Highway 54 is now complete. It looks really different there. Can’t wait to see what Cedar Creek Bridge will look like when it is finished.

Changes have been made to the annual Easter Egg Hunt. This year it will be held at the Toronto Baseball Field on April 19, with breakfast at 9 a.m. as well as pictures with a bunny and the actual Easter Egg Hunt will begin at 10 a.m.

Answer: Gigil is a feeling so intense that it gives us the irresistible urge to tightly clench our hands, grit our teeth and pinch or squeeze whomever or whatever it is we find so adorable.

I’ve been hearing about some crappie being caught in the area. It’s been quite some time since we’ve been able to go fishing. The handicap dock is nice, but it is a long walk pushing someone in a wheelchair and it is a popular spot to fish.

Favorite places to fish in the past are inaccessible. Oh well, that’s life.
