Seven Madison Bulldogs received special honors recently, when they were named to special Lyon County League (LCL) teams.
On the girls side, Madison senior Jalynn Weakley was named to the first team, while junior Caylin Luthi was named to the second team. Lady Bulldog senior Candice Ashlock was named to the honorable mention team and sophomore Jenna Thomsen was named to the All-Defensive team. There were two unanimous selections on the first team with Lebo’s Saige Hadley, a senior, and Marais des Cygnes Valley (MdCV) junior Akyra Traver. Also being named to the first team were Lilly Skalsky a junior from Olpe and Siara Crouch a senior from Lebo.
Others being named to the second team included Waverly senior Josie Romig, from Hartford, freshman Lauryn Finnerty and senior Trinity Windle and Burlingame senior Joselyn Simmons. Honorable mention picks were Northern Heights’ junior Briauhna Pierce, MdCV’s freshman Emily Criqui, Olpe’s junior Kayla Steinke and Hartford’s senior Keilee Finnerty. All-Defensive Team selections included Windle, Traver, Romig, Lebo’s Abi Jones and Madison’s Jenna Thomsen. Hadley was named the LCL Player of the Year.
On the boys side, Madison’s Colton Isch and Octavian Dean were named to the second team and Madison’s Lane Smith was named to the All-Defensive team.
Three unanimous first team selections were chosen on the boys side with Olpe’s Brecken McGuire, Burlingame’s Drake Skirvin and Lebo’s Zach Oswald. Burlingame’s Dane Winters and Olpe’s Dexton Hoelting rounded out the first team picks. Second team honorees went to Hartford’s Coy Wilkinson, Lebo’s Drew Konrade, Olpe’s Abbott Bailey and Northern Heights’ Cooper Woodrow. Honorable mention selections were Waverly’s Dustin Foster, MdCV’s Landon Traver and Burlingame’s Timmy Roberts. Skirvin, Hoelting, Konrade and Hartford’s Nolin Trester are the All-Defensive Team. McGuire was named the LCL Player of the Year.
