John Andrew

Aug. 30, 1932 - March 8, 2025

John Russell Andrew of Abilene, Texas died Saturday, March 8, 2025. John was born on Aug. 30, 1932 in Emporia. John leaves behind his wife Jeannie Andrew. Other survivors include Art Moore (wife Carol), of St. Joseph, Mo.; Jeff Moore (wife Lori) of Holton; Brian Heembrock (wife Mary) of Old Town, Maine; and Niel Heembrock, Farmington, Mo.

John worked his whole life in the oilfield in a wide variety of conditions ranging from east coast offshore rigs to land rigs on the west coast, as well as working in Alaska, Greenland and Venezuela. He graduated from Drilling School at Kilgore College in Kilgore, Texas in 1955 with a specialized degree in rotary drilling techniques. He was a Dresser Magcobar engineer as well as the general manager for B & N Drilling Company of Independence. He helped establish Fud Mud and E.J.A. Tool Company while working in El Dorado.

He was also a crop duster in his spare time. He was a life member of the Confederate Air Force. John was known to all who knew him as “Fud.”

John retired to New Mexico where he met and married Jeannie in September 1995. They later moved to Abilene, Texas.

John valued and appreciated each friend who made his life richer. He wishes everyone a fond farewell.

Memorials in John’s name may be given to Kinder Hearts Hospice 842 N. Mockingbird Ln., Abilene, TX 79603.

Funeral services will be held at a later date.
