Regional And Sub-State Action This Week For Volleyball And Cross Country

The Kansas High School Activities Association (KSHSAA) announced post season play locations last week. The following are locations for area teams:

2A Cross Country

On Saturday, October 21, cross country runners will compete in four different regionals in the 2A division with the top 10 runners (with the possibility of additional individual qualifiers) and the top three teams qualifying for the state tournament.

The Eureka Tornadoes and Howard-West Elk Patriots will compete at the Cherokee-Southeast Regional in Girard- Greenbush Course. The girls will run at 10 a.m., with the boys running at 11:10 a.m. Teams competing at the regional include: Arma-Northeast, Cherokee-Southeast, Elbing-Berean Academy, Erie, Eureka, Howard- West Elk, Lyndon, Mound City-Jayhawk Linn, Pittsburg-St. Mary’s Colgan, Pleasanton, Prairie Village-Kansas City Christian, Richmond-Central Heights, *Sedan, Shawnee-Maranatha Christian Academy, Uniontown and Whitewater- Remington. Those advancing to the 2A State competition will compete at Wamego Country Club on Saturday, October 28. 2A Girls will race at 10:35 a.m. with 2A Boys running at 12:20 p.m.

1A Cross Country

Also on Saturday, October 21, cross country runners will compete at three regionals in the 1A division, with the top 10 runners (with the possibility of additional individual qualifiers) and the top three teams qualifying for the state tournament.

The Madison Bulldogs will compete at the Wichita Trinity Academy 1A Regional, with the girls running at 10 a.m. and the boys running at 11:10 a.m. Teams competing at the regional include: Attica, Burden-Central, Burrton, Caldwell, Canton-Galva, Claflin-Central Plains, Colony-Crest, Cunningham, Dexter, Goessel, Hutchinson- Central Christian, Junction City-St. Xavier, Kiowa-South Barber, Langdon-Fairfield, Little River, Longton- Elk Valley, Lost Springs-Centre, Madison, McPherson-Elyria Christian, Moran-Marmaton Valley, Oswego, Pretty Prairie, South Haven, Stafford, Udall, Wichita- Central Christian Academy and Yates Center.

Those advancing to the 1A State competition will compete at Wamego Country Club on Saturday, October 28, 1A Boys will race at 11:10 a.m. with 1A Girls running at 12:55 p.m.

2A Volleyball

The Eureka Tornadoes and Patriots of Howard- West Elk are both slated to compete in the Dexter Sub-State, beginning at 2 p.m. Teams competing at the Dexter Sub-state include: Belle Plaine, Conway Springs, Dexter/Cedar Vale, Eureka, Howard-West Elk/ Longton-Elk Valley, Oxford, Sedan, Wichita-Classical School Of Wichita and Wichita-The Independent. The winner will advance to the 2A State Tournament in Dodge City on October 27-28.

Sub-state brackets for volleyball will be shared on Wednesday, October 18, at 10 a.m.

1A DI Volleyball

Class 1A DI will have 54 schools (two sub-state tournaments of six schools and six sub-state tournaments of seven schools) on Saturday, October 21. Madison/Hamilton will compete at Moran-Marmaton Valley, beginning at 1 p.m. Teams competing at the Moran Sub-state include: Colony-Crest, Madison/Hamilton, Moran- Marmaton Valley, Olpe, Oswego and Yates Center. The winner will advance to 1A DI State in Dodge City, on October 27-28.

Sub-state brackets for volleyball will be shared on Wednesday, October 18, at 10 a.m.
