Fifty years later, community members of Greenwood County are invited to join the Greenwood County Historical Society (GWCHS) board in celebration of the GWCHS.

Exhibits of items that have been donated to the Historical Society during the five decades, 1973 to 2023, are on display in the Beverly Ditty room. Special displays recognizing people who have contributed to the success of the Historical Society have also been created and are highlighted among new exhibits on display. A video is being created which will feature the history of the historical society from its inception to the present.

The community is invited to attend an open house October 30, beginning at 5:30 p.m. A program will be presented on the WPA project and the construction of Eureka Lake. Refreshments will be served.

GWCHS museum will be closed during the afternoon of October 30 and will open at 5:30 p.m. for the open house.
