Four Eureka Wrestlers To Compete At State Contest

Four Eureka Wrestling Club (EWC) members will represent Eureka at the State contest this weekend, in Topeka, as they placed in the top four in their weight classes at the District 2 qualifying tournament, on Saturday, March 8.

Harlie Owings placed first, Brynlee Ashlock placed 3rd and Adleigh Ray and Maela Neill placed fourth. They are pictured below from left to right: Owings, M. Neill, Ashlock and Ray.

Following are the individual match wins for EWC participants: 8U Girls 65: Oaklyn Smith placed 6th.

10U Girls 70: Brynlee Ashlock placed 3rd. She won by fall over Lyla Spangler (Maize) (Fall 1:10); and won by fall over Karsyn Hockett (Caney Valley) (Fall 0:42).

10U Girls 90: Elena Mc-Coy placed 5th. She won by fall over Brynleigh Shultz (Humboldt) (Fall 0:37); and won an 8-5 decision in sudden victory - 1 over Nadilly Houser (Bulldog).

12U Girls 110: Adleigh Ray placed 4th. She won by fall over Lydiah Waltermire (Red Devil) (Fall 1:54); and won a 4-1 decision over Ember Friend (Iola Kids).

12U 115: Felix Neill won by fall over Jacob Cruce (Team Haysville) (Fall 3:00); and won a 15-0 tech fall over Jeremiah Gittrich (Wichita Blue Knights).

14U 115: Tate Scott won by fall over Lucas Le (Wichita Wrestling Club) (Fall 0:32); and won a 15-0 tech fall over Michael Ramey (Winfield).

14U 120: Christian Sanchez won by fall over Chase Dannenberg (Clearwater) (Fall 1:12).

High School Girls 125: Maela Neill placed 4th. She won a 12-3 major decision over Sandra Babcock (Bulldog); and won a 6-0 decision over Jordan Henry (South Central Punisher).

High School Girls 170: Harlie Owings placed 1st. She won a 7-0 decision over Elayna Evans (Team Haysville); won a 6-1 decision over Kaylee Freeman (Team of Hard Knox); and won a 3-1 decision in tie breaker - 1 over Stefania Aranguiz (South Central Punisher).

Also representing EWC were Jad Day, 8U 55; Daniel Camp, 10U 76 and Maddox Hughes, 14U 110.

Members of EWC also competing at the 6U Championships and Girls Championships on Sunday, March 9. Graham Bechtel and Kase Vinson each went 2-2 at 6U State while Ray went 1-2 at the Girls Championships.
