With hopes of fielding a team for a traveling youth softball team, Eureka residents Austin Evenson and Isaac Boone held tryouts and organized a Tornado Softball 8U team. The team is comprised of 10 players from Eureka and one each from Leon, Madison and Toronto.
This weekend, the Lady Tornadoes will compete in their first tournament, the Howl-O-Scream in Wichita.
Tornado Softball 8U practices in Eureka and will compete primarily in Wichita. The girls, eight and under, are coached by Evenson, Boone and Bryan Hughes. Team members include: Brylee Boone, Ella Burke, Allison Combs, Charlie Conard, Haidyn Evenson, Miah Hughes, Adelynn Marks, Clara Milner, Jamie Mitchell, Paisley Morgan, Amelia Shepherd, Brynsley Valentine and Audrey Wallace.
This team is not funded by the Eureka Recreation Commission.
