The West Elk Patriot boys basketball team was slated to travel to Cherokee- Southeast on Tuesday, March 4, for semi-final action.
West Elk faced Herington on Thursday, Feb. 27, for quarterfinal action. Both teams were tied at 15 after the first, but West Elk outscored Herington 19-2 in the second to lead 34-17 at halftime. The teams again went basket for basket in the third, each scoring 13. West Elk was outscored in the fourth but it wasn’t enough for the Railers and the Patriots won, 5744.
Scoring for West Elk were Maddex Moreno 16, Kase Kill 15, Garett Usry 10, Peyton Fechter 7, Trent Haag 4, Jacen Gaston 3, and Brycen Hobbs 2.
West Elk will face Cherokee- Southeast on Tuesday of this week, with the winner advancing to the sub-state championship on Friday, March 7, at Yates Center, TBD.
The Lady Patriots faced Lyndon on Friday, March 1 for quarterfinal action. West Elk fell 20-73 and concluded their season. Additional details were unavailable at the time of publication.
