Three Eureka Tornadoes made their first state appearances over the weekend as they competed at the 3-1A state wrestling tournament in Hays, Friday and Saturday, Feb. 28-March 1.
Eureka junior Harlie Owings went 4-1 at the tournament to place third.
Also making their first state appearances were sophomore Maela Neill and freshman Killian Harrington.
Following are the individual match results for Eureka participants: 125: Maela Neill (2817) lost a 9-12 decision to Kaydence Shelly (Belleville- Republic County) 28-14; won by fall over Chaysie Bachman (Russell) 26-12 (Fall 2:04); and lost by fall to Tristel Schroeder (Haven) 30-23 (Fall 3:30).
170: Harlie Owings (379) placed 3rd. She won by fall over Aubree Dean (Cimarron) 12-22 (Fall 1:54); won by fall over Lexi Taylor (Cottonwood Falls-Chase County) 30-18 (Fall 1:38); lost a 4-5 decision to Atavia Cain (Oakley) 42-1; won by fall over Taryn Meek (Chaparral) 30-9 (Fall 1:21); and won a 1-0 decision over Brenah Cannon (Council Grove) 15-6.
285: Killian Harrington (6-13) lost by fall to Brody Chambers (Gypsum-Southeast Of Saline) 40-4 (Fall 0:32); and lost by fall to Daylan Fairchild (Atwood- Rawlins County) 2810 (Fall 2:30)
