The Eureka Lady Tornadoes stormed into Douglass on Tuesday, Feb. 11, and left no doubt about their dominance, overwhelming the Bulldogs 69-24. With relentless defense and lights-out shooting, Eureka racked up 22 steals—9 of them off their press—and drained 67% of their three-pointers in a commanding performance.
Eureka set the tone early, wasting no time in seizing control. Britta Mongeau opened the scoring with a strong drive to the basket, and the Tornadoes never looked back. Lydia Mason quickly followed with a steal, leading to a Laynie Winfrey three-pointer. The offensive onslaught continued as multiple Tornadoes contributed to the scoring. Winfrey and Mongeau were lethal from beyond the arc, each sinking two three-pointers. To cap off the first quarter, Winfrey drilled a deep buzzer-beater, sending the Tornadoes into the break with momentum fully in their favor.
The defensive intensity never wavered. By halftime, Eureka had forced over 10 turnovers and collected 14 steals, suffocating Douglass on both ends of the court. With a commanding 43-15 lead at the break, the outcome was all but decided.
The second half mirrored the first, with the Tornadoes continuing to apply defensive pressure and convert on offense. With the game well in hand, Eureka emptied the bench, but the dominance didn’t fade. Karsyn Osborne, Arabella Shepherd, Sydney Lindamood, and Jersey Cox stepped up in the final quarter, maintaining the energy and defensive intensity to close out the win.
