Eureka Music Club

Twelve members of Eureka Music Club met at the Christ Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. on Feb. 10. The meeting was conducted by this month’s program committee, Carolyn Perrier assisted by Marilyn Seymour. Treasurer, Jean Edwards, gave the treasurer’s report.

Scholarship applications have been placed in the high school counselor’s office.

A program using the theme “Just Love Songs” was then presented by several members.

Pat Surber sang a vocal solo “Make Believe” accompanied by Edwards.

Edwards then played a piano solo, “You Made Me Love You” from the musical, ‘Irene.’ A piano solo played by Rise Russin, “Till the End of Time” followed.

Next, Carla Cook played a recording from ‘Annie Get Your Gun,’ “An Old-Fashioned Wedding” featuring Ethel Merman and Ray Middleton as vocalists. The music was written by Irving Berlin. Perrier then played a piano solo, “More” from the movie ‘Mondo Cane.’

She was followed by Mary Ellen Forbes playing a piano solo, “Somewhere My Love” from ‘West Side Story.’

Seymour read several Love Poems adding to the “love” theme.

Margaret Spires played a piano solo, “Love’s Old Sweet Song” from The Golden Book of Favorite Songs used in many elementary schools in the early half of the 1900s.

A piano solo by Robin Himes, “Always,” by Irving Berlin, followed and the program concluded with Marla DeGrafenried playing a piano solo, “Moonglow” from the movie “Picnic,” music by Will Hudson and Irving Mills.

Valentine themed refreshments were served by the hostesses, Perrier and Forbes.

The next meeting will be on March 10 at the Christ Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. The program theme is ‘Favorite Irish Songs.’
