Aletha I. Cannon

Aletha I. Cannon, 91, of Ponca City, Okla., left this life on October 7, 2023. No viewing is planned. A Graveside Ceremony was held at 2 p.m., Friday, October 13, 2023, at Kaw City Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory, 505 W. Grand Ave, Ponca City, Okla., 74601.

Aletha I. Cannon, 91, of Ponca City, Okla., left this life on October 7, 2023. No viewing is planned. A Graveside Ceremony was held at 2 p.m., Friday, October 13, 2023, at Kaw City Cemetery. Aletha was born on May 27, 1932, in Climax, to Arnold and Alice (Hosler) Smith. She was the youngest of 6 children. Aletha attended school in Eureka. She married John A. Cannon on May 20, 1950, in Kansas City, Kan. She retired as an administrative assistant with CononcoPhillips.

Aletha and John loved to camp, especially at Kaw Lake where they ran the guard shack. They also loved to fish. Aletha was also a very good cook and enjoyed cooking for her family.

Aletha is survived by: son, Steve Cannon and his wife, Wanda, of Farmington, N.M.; granddaughter, Carrie McMurtrie; grandson, Cody Robinson both of Ponca City, Okla., Robin Cannon of Farmington, N.M., Johnna Paige of Big Spring, Texas; great-grandchildren, Rylee, Caden, Jon, Brennen, Leshay, Reagan, Blaire, Baylee, Cash and Payton; special niece, Jerry Barton and her husband, Steve.

Aletha was preceded in death by: her husband, John Cannon; daughter, Marsha Kay Robinson; siblings, Larry Smith, Leonard Smith, Lorrence Smith, Ava Gallagos and Bessie Lewis.
