A total of 21 local students will compete for the top speller in the county this Thursday, Feb. 6, at Hamilton USD 390, at 9 a.m.
The Madison Elementary Spelling Bee was held on Wednesday, Jan. 22 at Madison High School. The Spelling Bee lasted 10 rounds with the final two competitors both being from the fifth grade. Laikyn Henke was the overall Spelling Bee Champion with Huxley Bellinder coming in as the runner-up. Other competitors who will compete at the county spelling bee include: fourth graders Brynn Hamilton and Kyriana Williams; fifth grader Hiatt Seaton, and sixth graders Zander Suggs, Landon Metzen and Oakleigh Young. Raestyn Watts will serve as the school’s alternate.
Hamilton USD 390 held its district spelling bee on Tuesday, Jan. 28, with eighth-grader Jadden Winn claiming the championship title. Fifth-grader Keon Jones was named runner-up. Also representing Hamilton at the county spelling bee are fifth grader Madeline Ashlock and seventh graders Tommie Collins-Buckland and Reid Nelson. Winn and Jones are pictured at left.
