Elk County Wrestling (ECW) Cobras competed at two events last Saturday, Jan. 25.
Four members of the ECW traveled to Salina for the Tournament of Champions, where Emma Baumgartel claimed second place in the girls 14 and under 97-101 division. Six other ECW members made the short trip to Augusta where Pyper Ford claimed a second place medal of her own in the girls 12 and under 120 division.
Following are the individual match results for ECW participants:
Tournament Of Champions
6 & Under 37: Jayce Baumgartel placed 4th. He won a 22-8 major decision over Jace Hubbard (Junction City); and won by fall over Mason Peck (Wamego WC) (Fall 0:38).
10 & Under 82: Kash Bidwell placed 4th. He won a 9-0 major decision over Reid Schmidt (Smoky Valley); won by fall over Kyler Kennedy (Silver Lake) (Fall 0:57); and won a 15-3 major decision over Meyer Kempf (Iron grapplers).
10 & Under 110: Taybor Galvan won a 13-12 decision over Colby Bortnick (Rock Creek).
Girls 14 & Under 97-101: Emma Baumgartel placed 2nd. She won by fall over Jenna Allen (Onaga Wrestling) (Fall 2:42); won by fall over Nevaeh Beatty (Onaga Wrestling) (Fall 2:56); won by forfeit over Lydia Robinette (Bobcat Wrestling); and won by forfeit over Ava Cox (The Farm).
Augusta Open/Novice
6U Boys 58A: Beau Houchin placed 6th. He won by fall over Swayde Hunt (Ark City) (Fall 2:54).
10U Boys 79: Maverick Ford placed 6th. He won a 6-3 decision over Max Hewitt (Mulvane); and won by fall over Parker Kiser (SCP) (Fall 0:32).
8U Boys 49: Flint Pope placed 6th. He won a 17-0
tech fall over Axel Stephens (SCP).
12U Girls 80-90: Payton Vancil placed 4th.
12U Girls 120: Pyper Ford placed 2nd. She won by fall over Keilee Houston (Mulvane) (Fall 0:27); won by fall over Cambrigh Jones (Circle) (Fall 1:01); and won by fall over Claire Gray (Andover) (Fall 2:56).
Also representing ECW was Jesse Highbarger, 12U Boys 80.
