A total of 25 Elk County Wrestling (ECW) Cobras traveled to Independence on Sunday, Jan. 12, for the Bulldog Classic and claimed second place overall out of 20 teams. All 25 Cobras finished in the top four.
ECW was also represented at the 2025 KC Frontier Feud on Saturday, Jan. 11 by sisters Axl and Hendrix Ellsbury. With there not being a 6U division or girls novice division, Axl competed in the boys division. Hendrix place third at the meet.
Following are the individual match results for ECW Cobras: KC Frontier Feud 8U Girls Open 45: Hendrix Ellsbury placed 3rd. She won by fall over Alona King (Bobcat) (Fall 0:30); won a 4-3 decision over Brynna Johnson (Mountain Home); and won a 19-3 tech fall over Finley Currier (SW Timberwolves).
Also representing EWC was Axl Ellsbury, 8U Boys Novice 52.
Bulldog Classic 6U Boys 37: Jayce Baumgartel placed 1st. He won by fall over Oliver Deneau (Fredonia Wrestling Club) (Fall 0:30); and won by fall over Ryker Strickland (Independence Wrestling Club) (Fall 2:26).
6U Boys 46A: Kestyn McTaggart placed 3rd.
6U Boys 49B: Alden Ford placed 3rd.
6U Boys 58/61B: Beau Houchin placed 2nd. He won a 20-0 tech fall over Rhett Johnson (Neodesha Wrestling Club); and won by fall over Lucas Barton (Independence Wrestling Club) (Fall 2:39).
6U Boys 64/67: Kyptyn McTaggart placed 1st. He won a 19-5 major decision over Matthias Gadlin (Neodesha Wrestling Club); won by fall over Ethan Kimbrell (Independence Wrestling Club) (Fall 0:33); and won by fall over Justin Boatright Jr (Parsons Wrestling Club) (Fall 0:25).
6U Girls 45B: Brooklyn Lind placed 1st. He won a 16-0 tech fall over Evelyn Sollars (Humboldt Cubs Wrestling); and won by fall over Nia`Marie Clark (Team of Hard Knox) (Fall 0:18).
