Three Eureka Tornadoes claimed medals at the annual Burlington Tournament on Saturday, Jan. 11.
Eureka’s sophomore Mason Hughes placed second in the 113 pound weight class at the 33rd annual Burlington Invitational.
Lady Tornado junior Harlie Owings (170) and sophomore Maela Neill (125) claimed hardware at the 8th annual Lady-Cat Invitational. Owings pinned her way to a first place finish and Neill placed fourth.
Following are the individual match results for Eureka participants: 125: Maela Neill (16-6) placed 4th. She lost by fall to Amara Dossett (McPherson HS) 10-9 (Fall 0:34); won by fall over Lillee Merryman (Caney Valley HS) 3-9 (Fall 0:51); won a 19-6 major decision over Danika Metcalfe (Garnett- Anderson County HS) 3-3; won by fall over Piper Brobst (Eskridge-Mission Valley HS) 3-8 (Fall 0:40); won by fall over Dannee Anderson (Independence HS) 10-4 (Fall 3:56); and lost by fall to Amara Dossett (McPherson HS) 10-9 (Fall 2:40).
170: Harlie Owings (124) placed 1st. She received a bye; won by fall over Addie French (McPherson HS) 5-8 (Fall 1:16); and won by fall over Paige Ferrara (Burlington HS) 17-2 (Fall 4:41).
113: Mason Hughes (154) placed 2nd. He received a bye; won by fall over Lucas Johnson (Baldwin HS) 5-10 (Fall 1:01); won by fall over Aiden Wilson (Erie HS) 15-3 (Fall 4:44); and lost by fall to Silas Good (Caney Valley HS) 11-1 (Fall 3:37).
138: Fisher Hobbs (02) lost a 6-13 decision to Brogan Miller (Cherryvale HS) 8-4; received a bye; and lost by fall to Tilir Scheeringa (Neodesha HS) 9-8 (Fall 2:58).
190: Kadin Deshane (611) won by fall over Franklin Kerr (Iola HS) 0-2 (Fall 3:32); lost by fall to Cole Mathes (Humboldt HS) 14-0 (Fall 2:54); and lost by fall to Maddex Doherty (Wellsville HS) 8-11 (Fall 1:54).
215: Ethan Bauer (7-11) lost by fall to Brenden O`Connor (Baldwin HS) 14-5 (Fall 0:45); received a bye; and lost by fall to Spencer Brown (Eskridge-Mission Valley HS) 9-6 (Fall 0:52).
285: Killian Harrington (0-2) lost by fall to Carter Leathers (McPherson HS) 12-7 (Fall 1:20); received a bye; and lost by fall to Colton Babcock (Neodesha HS) 10-6 (Fall 1:36).

Eureka’s Lady Tornadoes will travel to Newton on Jan. 15-16 for the Newton Tournament before both the boys and girls teams will travel to Leon for the Bluestem Jamboree on Tuesday, Jan. 21, at 3 p.m. Eureka will host their annual junior varisty mixer on Friday, Jan. 24, at 4:30 p.m. and host their annual Eureka Tournament on Saturday, Jan. 25, at 9 a.m.
