Members of the Eureka Wrestling Club (EWC) traveled to Independence on Sunday, Jan. 12, for the Bulldog Classic. EWC’s Jad Day and Adleigh Ray placed 1st, while Oaklyn Smith, Miah Hughes and Maddox Hughes placed 2nd. Tanner Wade and Tate Scott placed 3rd and Zaiden Meza, Carson Eismann, and Keon Jones placed 4th.
Following are the individual match wins for EWC participants: 6U Boys 52/55A: Zaiden Meza placed 4th.
8U Boys 55B: Jad Day placed 1st. He won by fall over Zeke Reyes (Neodesha Wrestling Club) (Fall 0:49); won an 18-2 tech fall over Joei Davis (Cherryvale Wrestling Club); and won by fall over Lucas Reeder (Caney Valley Wrestling) (Fall 1:25).
8U Boys 80/88: Carson Eismann placed 4th.
8U Girls 65: Oaklyn Smith placed 2nd. She won by fall over Jo Lynn Thielen (Ark City Takedown Wrestling Cl) (Fall 0:21); and won by fall over Aubree Guffey (Fredonia Wrestling Club) (Fall 2:00).
10U Boys 55/61A: Tanner Wade placed 3rd.
10U Boys 82/85/90A: Keon Jones placed 4th. He won by fall over Daxton Huguenin (Neodesha Wrestling Club) (Fall 2:55).
10U Girls 55/60: Miah Hughes placed 2nd.
12U Girls 105/110: Adleigh Ray placed 1st. She won by fall over Lakin Love (Elk County Wrestling) (Fall 3:16); and won by fall over Paisley Perkins (Caney Valley Wrestling) (Fall 1:26).
14U Boys 100/110: Maddox Hughes placed 2nd. He won by fall over Breckin Guenther (Humboldt Cubs Wrestling) (Fall 0:55).
14U Boys 120/125/130: Tate Scott placed 3rd.
