Eureka City Administrator Joel Laws was put on paid administrative leave last Friday, Jan. 3.
After three executive sessions, during a special meeting last Friday, the city council unanimously approved a motion to place Laws on leave. No additional details were shared.
The three executive sessions, all for personnel, included a 15-minute session with just the council and 15-minute and 10-minute sessions with Administrator Laws and City Clerk Renee Burk.
The special meeting followed a heated routine bi-monthly meeting on Monday, Dec. 23. The article was printed in the Jan. 1 edition of The Eureka Herald.
Laws began as the Eureka City Administrator in March of 2024.

The next scheduled Eureka City Council meeting is Monday, Jan. 13, at 7 p.m.
