The Elk County Commission meets weekly on Mondays at 1 p.m. The following report was generated from the approved minutes of the Nov. 25 meeting minutes, which were approved at a recent meeting.
The regular meeting of the Elk County Commission was called to order at 1 p.m. on Dec. 9. The Nov. 25 regular meeting minutes were approved.
Discussion was held in regards to the Hemmit and how it would be beneficial to the county. The purchase of the Hemmit for $35,000, to be paid out of the Rural Fire Budget, was approved.
Department reports were presented from Gillian Beaumont, EMS Director, Don Sanders, Public Works, Stephanie Ollenborger, Register of Deeds, Sheriff John Walker and Treasurer Rachel Ware.
2025 Cost of Living (COLA) increases were discussed. It was approved to give a 2.5% COLA increase starting with January payroll. Budget amendments for 2024 were also discussed. County Clerk Kerry Harrod stated the County General, Ambulance and Employee Benefits funds all needed amended. It was approved to publish the budget amendment notice in The Prairie Star and hold an amendment hearing on Dec. 30 at 1 p.m. Shari Kaminska, Community Development, stated there was one proposal received for site certification from PEC. This can be paid out of the BASE Grant.
Two executive sessions were held with no action taken after returning to open session. The first was for legal issues pertaining to security with commissioners, Sheriff Walker, Clerk Harrod and County Counselor Paul Dean. The second session was for legal issues to discuss personnel with Sanders, Harrod and Dean.
Abatements PP24-136, TK24-137, OIL24-142, OIL24-143 and warrants in the amount of $190,267.30 were approved.
The next regular meeting of the Elk County Commission will be held on Monday, Jan. 13, at 1 p.m.
